Committees

Communications

The Communications Committee is responsible for creating visibility in the community for YPAL events, as well as improving YPAL's overall appeal as a vital organization within the community. Committee members often author press releases, design advertisements and assist the organization in informing area media outlets about YPAL's accomplishments, in addition to assisting with the continuous development of the organization's Weekly Update, marketing, social media and e-campaigns. Some members serve as direct liaisons to secure media representation for YPAL events.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Committee implements events that engage and empower YPAL’s membership through meaningful service and leadership opportunities by connecting with other non-profit organizations. The committee works to improve the community’s social, economic and environmental needs. These efforts are to increase recognition for YPAL’s philanthropic activities.

Diversity

The Diversity Committee builds partnerships and relationships with other community organizations to make demographically diverse programs available to YPAL members. Through our events and forums, we seek to promote awareness and involvement of different cultures, races, ethnicities and careers for an enlightened and educated community.

Entertainment

The Entertainment Committee is responsible for coordinating events that provide young professionals with the ability to socialize. The committee plans and coordinates signature events like YPAL's Martini Party, Signature Gala and happy hours. In addition, the Entertainment Committee oversees the Sports Subcommittee, which organizes recreational sports teams and game watches.

Finance

The Finance Committee works to develop an investment philosophy, strategy and recommendations for YPAL. In addition, the Finance Committee works with other YPAL committees to develop budgets and ensure we have an accurate projection each year. The committee works to plan finance-themed events for members, including the CFO series.

Legal

The Legal Committee serves to connect and engage young professional members of the Louisville legal community, and more broadly, any young professionals interested in the legal field. The Committee accomplishes this goal in part through legal themed events that provide dual networking and development opportunities. Internally, the Committee reviews all YPAL contracts and handles the organization’s legal needs. In addition, the Legal Committee assists the other YPAL committees with maintaining consistent meeting minutes and complying with YPAL’s policies and procedures.

Membership

The Membership Committee is focused on the retention of our membership by better connecting, developing, and engaging our members throughout the year.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee provides growth opportunities to YPAL members and other young professionals in the community through networking events, training seminars and other engaging lectures. Professional development topics are wide ranging and can span from behind-the-scenes tours to resume and career development workshops.

Public Issues

The Public Issues Committee is focused on providing our membership with opportunities to learn about, participate in and advocate for the various issues that are affecting Louisville and its young professionals. The Public Issues Committee helps drive YPAL’s advocacy positions by surveying our membership, planning events, and hosting visits to Frankfort. Throughout the course of each year this committee hosts several events, some of which include networking events with both local and statewide politicians and young professionals’ day at the capitol.

Recruitment

The Recruitment Committee actively seeks to integrate current and prospective members of YPAL as participants in the organization’s community, professional and social opportunities. Through the committee's own events such as YPAL 101, an established welcoming committee and outside partnerships, the committee strives to accomplish our goal of building membership.

Technology

The Technology Committee focuses on improving the online image of YPAL among members and the community. The committee achieves this goal by blending creative and technical skills to create website layout and content. The committee members embody diverse backgrounds and include interests in writing, and technology that relates to the website. The committee also networks and builds relationships amongst technology companies and groups in Louisville.
