  December 2009 - YPAL announces the results of 10th Anniversary Canned Food Drive Challenge

We are pleased to announce that YPAL collected OVER 20,000 pounds of food - More than doubling our goal!

YPAL closes 10th anniversary campaign with a “Celebration of Young Professional Leadership in Louisville.” Announces organization collected over 20,000 pounds of food for food drive and Green Initiative.

YPAL partners with the Kentucky Derby Festival to host Fall Extravaganza fundraiser. Donations of canned food were accepted in support of YPAL’s Food Drive.

The Entertainment Committee hosts first-ever Kickball Tournament at the Waterfront Park. YPAL welcomed members, family and friends for an afternoon of fun. The Entertainment Committee created a Sports Sub-Committee to organize more recreational events.

 October 29, 2009

The Technology Committee hosts their first-ever committee meeting to discuss ways to improve the interactive capabilities of the YPAL Web site along with ways to make the site more beneficial to members.

YPAL partners with the Louisville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to host “It’s More than a Man-Cession: The Real Demographics behind the Recession,” featuring Federal Reserve economist Dr. Howard Wall. The event also featured a panel including Cash Moter, president of YPAL; Carolyn Gatz, Principal at Gatz and Associates, Founding Director of the Greater Louisville Project and Dr. Nat Irvin, Professor of Management at University of Louisville College of Business, Founder & President of Future Focus 2020.

The Diversity Committee kicks off its Diversity Series with “Louisville’s Future” featuring Dr. Nat Irvin, Professor of Management at University of Louisville College of Business, Founder & President of Future Focus 2020.

YPAL hosts its annual Martini Party at the Hyatt Regency Louisville. The event featured $2 martinis sponsored by Three Olives Vodka and 1800 Tequila. YPAL members and guest enjoyed great music atop the Louisville skyline in the Spire.

The Community Outreach Committee partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana for a Big for a Day event at the Louisville Zoo. The event paired YPAL Bigs with little brothers and sisters in the local community who are need of positive role models and mentors while enjoying a day at the Zoo.

YPAL hosts Louisville’s Green Team at Proof to kick off YPAL’s signature Leadership Lunch series. The event featured Gill Holland, Owner of The Green Building; Maria Koetter, CHMM, LEED AP, President of Bgreen2; Matthew Boone Gardiner, President of Boone Gardiner Garden Center and member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and Jonathan Balas, AIA, LEED AP Prototype Architect KFC Architecture & Engineering.

YPAL hires its first part-time employee, Sara Baumgarten, as administrative assistant. Sara's duties include answering email inquiries by members and non-members, graphic design of marketing materials, event posting and general maintenance of the YPAL Web site and membership-processing. She also maintains YPAL's social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.
