YPAL is excited to announce our 2023 YPAL Award Winners! Meet Lena Muldoon. Lena was nominated by peers for connecting, engaging and developing in our community and was recognized among more than 265 nominees.
Lena Muldoon is the Executive Director of You Decide, Kentucky! (YDK!), a nonprofit organization and statewide initiative that supports modernizing the Constitution of Kentucky so that local revenue generation can empower economic growth and community decision-making throughout the Commonwealth. In this role, she leads the hands-on operations while fostering growth and developing YDK!’s initiatives.
Prior to this role, she spent several years in Louisville Metro Government’s Office of the Mayor overseeing legislative strategy as Intergovernmental Affairs Liaison. She was responsible for developing strategies and action plans to advance Metro’s legislative agenda, with a particular focus on budget, tax and incentives, government administration, and public safety policy. Her learnings of the intricacies of local government ignited a passion for public service and a commitment to bettering the lives of Kentuckians.
Prior to joining Louisville Metro Government, Lena lived and traveled across South America for a number of years. She currently leads her community as a member of the Assumption High School Alumnae Association Board, the New Leaders Council Kentucky Board of Directors, the Kids Cancer Alliance Young Professionals Committee, as a program facilitator with the KY YMCA Youth Association. She is a 2021 New Leaders Council Institute Fellow and a 2022 Leadership Louisville Ignite graduate.
Lena graduated from the Honors Program of DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts and completed her Master of Arts at the Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Lena was raised in Louisville. She is married to Matias Polizzi, a business professional and proud Argentine expat, and their family is completed by their dogs Perry and Uco. They are joyful aunt and uncle to three nieces.
Lena tries her hardest to focus on doing good, leading others to do the same so that we may all leave better communities behind us.
