LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 1, 2026) — Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) has opened applications for the 2026-27 board term.
The volunteer board leads the direction of the nonprofit over the course of a 1-year commitment. YPAL’s 2026-27 board term officially begins July 1, 2026 and ends June 30, 2027.
Board applications are open until Sunday, April 26 at 11:59 p.m.

YPAL has 20 volunteer board members and 18 positions are open for applicants. The board works to run the organization’s day-to-day operations, along with overseeing governance, finances and the future strategy of the organization. Each position is a uniquely assigned responsibility for a particular function of the organization. To view each job description, click here.
Participation on YPAL’s board of directors requires a substantial time commitment, including attendance at monthly board meetings, which occur in-person on the third Wednesday of each month from 5:30-7 p.m., along with responsibilities of each position. Director roles are estimated to be around five hours per week, while Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer roles are estimated to be about 10 hours per week. Presidential roles are expected to be about 20 hours per week.
YPAL Board 101 will share information on board positions, what it takes to be a YPAL board member and responsibilities as a board member. The event is on April 10 from 8:30-10 a.m. and is optional for applicants. To register for the event, click here.

Timeline and process:
- Sunday, April 26 (11:59 p.m.) – Applications are due.
- Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7 (5:00-10:00 p.m.) – Candidates will be interviewed by the Nomination Committee in person. Please keep both dates open. Appointments will not be set until Tuesday, April 28. If you are asked to interview, your appointment will be 15-20 minutes between 5:30-9 p.m. If you have a conflict with one of those nights, please let us know in your application.
- Wednesday, May 20 – The Nominating Committee makes a final recommendation to the Board of Directors to vote on candidates.

- Monday, June 8 – 5:30-7:30 p.m. (Board Orientation)
- Saturday, June 13 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Board Retreat)
- YPAL Board of Director Meetings are hosted on the third Wednesday of each month from 5:30-7 p.m. in-person.
- YPAL Executive Committee Meetings are hosted on the first Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. virtually. (Only required for presidential suite, vice presidents, secretary, and treasurer)
