What is your day job? Community Outreach Coordinator, Louisville Metro Parks Counselor, Nativity Academy

Why did you join YPAL?

I first joined YPAL in order to attend networking events and meet other like-minded Young professionals.

How are you involved with YPAL?

After attending several networking events, I participated in the Emerging Leaders Program and I am currently looking forward to joining one of the committees as well.

Why did you choose Louisville?

I have been in Louisville my entire life and truly feel there are so many opportunities for growth and career advancement. Louisville is also a wonderful place to raise a family.

What was your 1st job?

I’ve had the pleasure of working for a variety of wonderful companies within the city. One of my first jobs here was working for KET: The Kentucky Network.

What is your career ambition?

I want to know that whatever position I hold is having a positive effect on the community around me. With all that is happening with youth as well as overall violence and inequality, I want my career to bring about position change in our community.

What makes Louisville weird?

We have this very interesting way of connecting with one another based on what high school someone attended. Louisville also has so many different and interesting neighborhoods throughout the city and they  all have their own unique characteristics. I like to get out and explore different areas in the city because they are so different and they all have something positive to offer.

Favorite thing to do in Louisville?

I love summertime in Louisville. My kids and I frequent many of the parks in the city and we have a favorite park for every activity from picnics to sports and hiking to just playing and relaxation. Shakespeare in the Park, however, has to be one of our favorite summer tradition here in town.

What is the best career advice you have received?

“Find your passion.” – Chris Schulz from YPAL’s Emerging Leaders Program. I go back to this over and over again because it definitely spoke to me and made me question my career path and challenge the “why” in my journey.

Favorite restaurant in Louisville?

Doc Crow’s is one of my favorite restaurants to go to on occasion, however, Big Momma’s has definitely been a regular go to when I need an alternative to cooking for the night.

What is your favorite thing about being a YPAL member?

I love that there are so many options for becoming involved and you can really get out of it whatever you’re looking for with no added pressures.
