In October of last yearleaders of YPAL and YPAL Cares helped organize the first-ever gathering of Kentucky’s young professionals organizations at the Governor’s Mansion in Frankfort.

“Young Professionals are the future of Kentucky and the ingenuity of our workforce,” says Nathan Haney, VP of Special Projects for YPAL. “We want to be engaged in the political process.  This is our first step in that direction.”

The main topics discussed included best practices and working together to make Kentucky a better state for attracting and retaining young talent. See full notes below.

Joe Craft, President, CEO and Director of Alliance Resource Partners served as the day’s keynote speaker. Kentucky Ag. Commissioner Jamie Comer and Kentucky State Representatives Jonathan Shell and Michael Meredith also spoke to the group about paying attention to what’s happening in Frankfort and in their local governments.

As part of that charge, YPAL will be participating in the annual YP Day at the Capitol on Thursday, February 6, 2014. We invite all members and young professionals from across the state to join us for the day in Frankfort where we’ll hear from legislatures, attend a live legislative session and gather together for a reception at Buffalo Trace Distillery.
