Mandy Simpson fights to ensure that all people, especially her young professional peers, are equipped with the knowledge and empowered with the confidence to advocate for themselves, their loved ones, their neighbors, and their community. Mandy’s work as Director of Public Policy at Metro United Way takes on many forms and projects, and one that we want to share is the Liberation Identification campaign that she supported in partnership with the ACLU Smart Justice Advocates. The SJAs intimately understand the barrier incarcerated individuals face The Liberation Identification campaign included 10 videos and a micro-documentary telling stories of a spectrum of people and industries impacted by Kentucky’s lack of an ID program for incarcerated individuals. This is just one of the many projects where Mandy has skillfully taken complex topics and organized educational efforts with actionable next steps.
