A Letter from our President
To our Advisory Council and Sponsors,
What an exciting quarter for YPAL this has been! The Board of Directors and I cannot believe that we are almost finished with our board terms and that it is already time to interview new members who are interested in spearheading the organization. It has truly been an amazing year, and I look forward to the terrific, upcoming events the Directors are currently planning for the rest of their terms.
YPAL has been extremely busy so far in 2015! Members bussed down to Frankfort to take part in YP Day at the Capital in February, and were joined by YP groups from Northern KY and Lexington as well. Senator Morgan McGarvey and Representative Ryan Quarles spoke to the organizations, and lunch took place at the KY Chamber of Commerce. We also had the opportunity to sit in on Senate and House sessions, and closed the day with a reception at Buffalo Trace Distillery with many elected officials.
We were honored to host a breakfast featuring Senator Rand Paul and a luncheon with Congressman John Yarmuth this quarter, which allowed both political figures to touch on how YPs can continue to be engaged in the legislative process. Both events were well attended, and we even got covered by some national media for the breakfast with Senator Paul in mid-February.
In March, we held an informative Quarterly Luncheon, and hosted GLI’s President, Kent Oyler, to speak to our young professionals regarding the benefits of getting involved throughout the community. What a terrific opportunity that was!
Lastly, we announced our support of the Kentucky Telecommunications Reform in early March, to spur investment and allow widespread access to wireless and broadband services required in a 21st Century economy. In order to grow and flourish as a state, Kentucky must advance our current position on telecom modernization, especially if we want to continue to attract YPs to cities within the bluegrass.
Thank you for your endless support and dedication to our organization and city. We appreciate your presence and involvement within the organization and look forward to hosting many successful events throughout the next few months.
Happy Spring!
Jean Lee
