A Letter from our President
To our Advisory Council and Sponsors,
The YPAL team hit the ground running for the 2013-2014 board term. We reached a new milestone this summer, reaching a peak membership count of over 800 members, and recently launched our new website (I hope you take some time to visit www.ypal.org see the refreshed look!). Our recruitment and retention efforts within YPAL have hit their stride, and we look forward to continued increases in both new and returning members.
We are also building on the foundation of outstanding professional development programming implemented by last year’s board. For example, we are continuing the $#*! I Wish I Knew Series this fall, but with a new twist. Each session will be an intimate dining experience for a small group of members and community leaders, providing members personal access with the people they aspire to be.
Throughout this year, look for YPAL to hone in on the “engagement” piece of our five year strategic plan. Already this summer, YPAL members submitted over 130 ideas to the Mayor’s Vision Louisville initiative, giving life to young professionals’ view of what our city should look like in 25 years. We also heard from Bryan Sunderland, Senior VP of Public Affairs at the Kentucky Chamber, about his insights into Frankfort politics and hot topics that may pop up during next year’s legislative session. YPAL has some very exciting events coming up this year to grow YP civic engagement, so stay tuned to see how YPAL is partnering with other YP groups statewide to accomplish that goal.
Overall, we are very excited about this year’s board term and the opportunities ahead of us.The entire board and I thank you for your continued support and dedication to our organization. We truly could not do it without you.
Very truly yours,
Rebecca Weis, President, Young Professionals Association of Louisville
