YP Development Fund
The YPAL Foundation manages the YP Development Fund, which seeks to provide resources for young professionals to pursue development activities outside of YPAL.
Applications for the YP Development Fund are Temporarily Paused. Keep an eye on this space for updates!
We’re empowering young professionals with experiences that help Louisville thrive.
The Young Professional Development Fund supports young professionals in Greater Louisville as they pursue career-advancing opportunities. The fund helps cover expenses related to leadership or professional development courses not associated with YPAL. This may include industry conferences, leadership seminars or professional certifications. Because Louisville offers valuable programming across the city, we want to ensure young professionals can access it without financial barriers.
Who is it for?
Young Professionals:
Any young professional in the Louisville Metro can apply, as long as the funds are used for the approved professional development purposes.
Employers:
If there are specific skills, certifications, or training programs that would advance your team’s capabilities, encourage your employees to apply. YPAL may offset or share the cost, expanding opportunities for key staff development. Past winners have used their grants to attend leadership conferences, pay personal trainer certification fees, register for diversity and inclusion training, and join Leadership Louisville programs.
Criteria for YPAL Development Grants:
- Grant money can be used for programming outside of YPAL and not YPAL-sponsored programs such as the Emerging Leaders Program.
- Grant money cannot be used for tuition, room and board, or fees tied to standard college or university classes.
- Grant money cannot be used for programs for individuals who are not young professionals (such as youth programming).
- Funds must be used for the purpose stated in the application. If the program does not occur, funds must be returned to YPAL.
- Each applicant may receive funds no more than once per year.
- Applicants do not need to be YPAL members to receive a grant.
Please note: YPAL retains discretion in awarding Young Professional Development Fund grants.
Want to support future recipients?
The average award to applicants is between $450-$550 depending on the request and available funding. You can expand the impact of this fund and increase the number of Young Professionals equipping themselves with skills, certifications, or trainings by:
- Donating during YPAL’s Give for Good on September 18th
- Participating in fundraising events
- Spreading the word to others who believe in growing a well equipped workforce
