YPAL is excited to announce our 2023 YPAL Award Winners! Meet Erin Signmind. Erin was nominated by peers for connecting, engaging, and developing in our community and was recognized among more than 265 nominees.

Erin Sigmund serves as the Community Relations and Policy Advisor at the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), working to increase community visibility and support, enhance policy information and engagement, and coordinate work with national organizations. As the world’s largest nonprofit organization creating accessible learning experiences through educational, workplace, and independent living products and services for people who are blind and low vision, APH has produced Louisville’s most accessible export since 1858.

Prior to her role at APH, Erin graduated from Louisville Seminary and served in various capacities with AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps State-National in Louisville, Kentucky, including as Program Manager at the Global Game Changers Student Empowerment Program. Erin is also a proud volunteer and patron of Kentucky Shakespeare and a former One Church Youth Ministry volunteer.

In describing her professional and personal work, Erin prioritizes attention to individuality, meaningful collaboration, and warm hospitality. She’ll throw you a party for any and every occasion and relishes the opportunity to gather around a table to break in a new, nerdy board game.
