The Colon Cancer Prevention Project will be hosting its 2017 Bottoms Up Bash on March 3rd (National Dress in Blue Day) at the Mellwood Art Center in Louisville. This event kicks off Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. This popular party raises money for a Louisville-based non-profit on a mission to end colon cancer. Since its 2004 inception, CCPP has worked to take Kentucky from being the 49th worst state for colon cancer screening to the 20th best, and we have seen the incidence and mortality of colon cancer decrease over 25% in that time period. However, we still have a long way to go in eliminating preventable colon cancer death and suffering by increasing screening rates through education, advocacy, health systems improvement and survivor support.
We are seeking volunteers who are passionate about helping improve the health of their community by serving at our Bash. We have many volunteer roles available, including silent auction, check-out, and donation collection. Volunteer role descriptions and sign-ups are available here. For those who may be interested in supporting the event by attending, the $125/person tickets include dancing and live band (The Louisville Crashers), beverages, food, and desserts. Tickets and more information can be accessed here.
