LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 21, 2025) — The Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) is proud to announce that it has officially transitioned from a 501(c)(6) organization to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, opening new doors for growth and impact in the Louisville community.

This change underscores YPAL’s commitment to fostering connection, engagement, and professional development among young professionals in the region. The shift allows YPAL to align more clearly with its mission of service, leadership development and community engagement, along with expanding its impact and elevating the nonprofit’s role as a civic partner in Louisville.

“This milestone reflects the evolution of YPAL and the vision we have for its future,” said Ben Donlon, YPAL president. “Shifting to a 501(c)(3) status is one step in a bigger effort to create a more impactful organization. One that can build deeper partnerships and invest even more directly into the success of young professionals in our region.”

As a 501(c)(3), YPAL will now be able to accept tax-deductible donations, paving the way for increased support from both individual and corporate partners. This new status also enhances YPAL’s ability to collaborate with philanthropic and grant-making entities to secure funding for initiatives that empower young professionals and drive talent retention efforts.

This announcement comes on the heels of YPAL’s 25th anniversary celebration in 2024, marking a quarter-century of dedication to the professional and personal growth of its members.

Additionally, YPAL welcomed a new executive director last October, Grace Huneck, whose leadership has been instrumental in steering the organization toward this new chapter.

“I have been, and continue to be so impressed by this organization and its members. I’m thrilled to be a part of YPAL’s continued success, and this new status is a major milestone in our future,” said Huneck. “Becoming a 501(c)(3) will allow us to better serve our members, expand our reach, and deepen our investment into our community.”

YPAL remains steadfast in its mission to connect, engage, and develop young professionals in Louisville through leadership development, networking, and community involvement. With this new status, the organization is well-positioned to strengthen its role as a catalyst for talent attraction and retention in the region.
